postheadericon Expensive HDMI Cables And You

I have always believed that expensive cables are a waste of money with 2 exceptions (1) you are running the cables over a long distance, even then you can still go overboard. (2) when you are always plugging in and unplugging interconnects and cables you do require a better made cable and interconnect other wise you will go threw cables like there is no tomorrow, even then you can still go overboard.

Here is something that I found on mint.com and just had to share it.

Budget Planner – Mint.com

I just couldn’t believe that, I refuse to spend anymore than $10 on a 1 meter HDMI cable that is always going to be plugged in and only unplugged maybe once a year, I have one on the blu-ray player and one on the Xbox360 and they work amazingly.

I will have to share the expensive speaker cable VS the cheap wire coat hanger story one of these days.

postheadericon i1.ytimg.com

I was accessing my web site today and down in the status bar at the bottom of Firefox I saw i1.ytimg.com and I was wondering what it was, from what I can tell it is a cache that stores a static thumb nail of you tube videos and other cached items, hence its name “yt” is for youtube and “img” I would assume is for image.

I checked my main page which contains different posts and a few of them had youtube videos and to my surprise one of the videos didn’t have a thumbnail so I refreshed the page and now it displays correctly and the status bar no longer shows i1.ytimg.com

There seems to be a few sub domains like i1, i2, i3, i4, etc.

From The web site traffic spy “The i1.ytimg.com Server is powered by video_thumbnail_server webserver software” just what I thought.

There is also the s.ytimg.com which seems to be something different altogether, there is some information here and here relating to that one, seems to be related with flash and your web camera and microphone, you can adjust the settings here for all web sites and from what I can tell all browsers.

postheadericon New Blu-ray Player

Just thought I would share that we have joined the rest of the world and now have a Blu-ray player all setup.

We also go a few titles on special at JB Hi-Fi, 2 movies for $20 isn’t bad.

Might visit them next time I get paid and purchase 2 more for $20.

postheadericon Our little trash collection

We decided to get rid of our rubbish, so we rang a company that will take away your metal/steel etc for free.

About a week later they also picked up our dead washing machine.

The good guys and girls at Ezy Scrap took care of this.

postheadericon A new month and a new theme

Well it is the first of the month – Thursday 1st of July 2010 to be exact :)

I have installed a new theme and inserted some custom code here and there to enhance a few things etc.

The new theme is nothing over the top but I like it and since it is my web site that is all that matters.

I have been very slack with this web site the last month, well no I haven’t actually, I have some quiet large posts and pages in my drafts that I am fine tuning.

I have updated to the latest WP3.0 and all is going smoothly (touch wood) I have quiet a few plug-ins which I don’t think I really need now that quiet a few of the features that the plug-ins provide are now included within WP3.0.

I am looking into ways to make a small amount of money so to speak (so I don’t have to dig to deep into my own pocket) from this web site so that I can get or pay for a larger hosting plan with my current provider as it seems that i am going to need more band width within the upcoming months.

I have been cleaning up my internet activities over the last few weeks and i have ditched a number of online sites, but it seems that I have now signed up for a few new sites, hmm that wasn’t what I wanted :(

Stay tuned ladies, and gents.

This thing is very small and very light weight, doesn’t have/need a big power pack and stays very cool while in use.
