Items around the internet
First up I spotted this article about the top 10 women in/of technology (IT) I have heard of most off them and there is a few new faces listed there.
I have been following the new Asus Eee PC and I have found a few places here in Australia that sell them (myer for example) and a few smaller retail outlets from around the $529 to $599 which I must say is a lot more than what I thought the price would be (I was told some time ago that it would retail for between $250 – $299 mark)
I purchased my Asus aspire 5315 instead for $599 after $100 cash back, I used the cash back to purchase 2.0gig of dual channel ram for the laptop which was totally worth the $40 I paid per 1.0gig stick.
I am trying to finish most the games I purchased in 2007 before I go out and buy a few new titles (ut2007, bioshock, crysis, nfs-pro street) just to name a few..
My Vista experience on my laptop is going smooth – especially after I installed SP1 that was released to the public, it has fixed a lot of problems including file transfer issues, performance problems, startup and shut down is now a lot quicker. So far sp1 has been great.
I would suggest that you wait until it is officially released to the public in it’s full form and not in it’s current testing state (all thought it seems close enougth to be a finial release)
Until next time..

Would definitely be installing 2 gigs of ram so thats ok. Thanks for all the info ^_^
The laptop has an 80gig sata 2.5″ hdd, dual layered dvd burner, 34mm express slot, 512mb of ddr2-667 ram, vista home basic and a heap of other software pre installed.
There is no installation disk so you will have to make from the pre installed acer software – it gives you the option some were to do that.
As for vista it runs quiet bad with only 512mb of ram but it can be easily replaced with 2x 1.0gig sodimms as I did and it now has 2.0gig of dual channel memory and now it fly’s along.
I have also installed the RC os vista SP1 and it has made things alot better and even more quicker.
Overall I am very pleased with this purchase (more ram is highly recommended)
So would you say then that for the money, the acer is a decent little basic laptop? Am thinking of getting one myself, but it’s between it and a similar specced/priced compaq laptop. Although I think this one has the newer graphics chip over the compaq with the older one.
Does it seem to be any less solid, of good build quality etc for being so cheap? And also should run ok with vista after upgrading the ram? Have been wondering about that but your luck with it is good news.
