Google pack
I thought I would try the google pack the other day when I was in a testing environment.
It installs some handy applications.
You can choose what software you want to install.
- Google earth.
- Google toolbar for internet explorer.
- Norton Security scan.
- Spyware Doctor Starter Edition.
- Google Desktop.
- Picasa.
- Mozilla Firefox with Google Toolbar.
- Google Photos Screen saver.
- Adobe Reader.
- Google Talk.
- Skype.
- RealPlayer .
- StarOffice.
Not a bad set of software. Norton Security scan seems half descent, more info here and here.
It detected that I all ready had FireFox and Adode reader installed and said they were up to date.
I think I would have preferred to see Quick Time instead of RealPlayer.
List of installed software. Adobe reader is a little over the top (try foxit pdf reader)
install updates for the software that you downloaded (a nice feature)
General preferences tab, tweak the application the way you want it.
Included is Norton securit scanm doesn’t run in the background or provide real time protection like its big brother’s but it seems to do a descent job, more info here and here.
Overall the google pack provides a good starter package for some one just setting up there computer or even for the more experienced user.
