V-Gear

V-Gear Driver, Application and general Support page.

Here is a small list of the main products that V-Gear created or had dealings with, Keep in mind that V-Gear did close it’s doors over 2 years ago now, so there will be no further updates, unless you go to the actual chip-set maker that makes the chip-set in the unit.

I will be adding a few more items to this list as time permits as I am missing a few items, there are also a number of V-Gear products that I will not be adding because they are UVC devices and don’t ship with actual drivers.

I know a lot about these products as I use to work for a company that imported all of these units into the country, I can’t how ever give support for most of these products because I have not tested any of them with today’s operating systems eg. Windows 7.

General installation guide

  • Installation order for the V-Gear range of products. Install drivers

  • Then it is best to restart the system once more
Then proceed with the installation of the supplied other software

No Audio on Analogue Channels Fix under Vista and XP
If you are using your V-Gear MiboDTV Trio either under Windows XP or Vista and you restart your computer system and you go back into either Total Media or Media Center (MCE) and you find that you have no audio on the analogue channels then you need to do one of the following:

Solution 1.

  • Turn the computer system off completely
  • Remove the MobiDTV Trio from the computer USB port
  • Power the Computer system back on and once in windows you can plug the MobiDTV back into the Computers USB port
  • Now load up Total media or Media Center (MCE) and the audio on the analogue channels will now work

Solution 2

  • Close down Total Media or Media Center
  • Remove the MobiDTV Trio from the Computers USB port
  • Wait a few seconds
  • Plug the MiboDTV Trio back into the Computers USB port
  • Now load up Total media or Media Center (MCE) and the audio on the analogue channels will now work

This is a short term fix as we are working on the problem and will get back with a fix (newer driver) shortly.
Note: Total media is not the quickest program response wise and can take a few seconds for Total Media to respond.

thanks jason im using it on vista but setting it to win 2000 sound like a sound driver conflict intrestingly if i press time shift the beeps go also is i recored a program no beep but its there when its recording ive tryed loading on my laptop which is on window 7 64 but it says product not compatable with 64 os’s when everor eather pc i have a nightmare loading it on with driver issues

It won’t work on a 64bit OS no matter what you do, I am surprised it works on vista 32bit, have you tried updating the driver for it, go into device manager and into the properties for the tuner and update the driver via windows update, there might be a newer one, also try updating your sound card driver, I am not to sure what to suggest.
It is like me and the old lifeview items I keep hanging onto and using, they do have better drivers and 64bit support though :)

that is an old product that I haven’t personally used for atleast 4 years or more when I stopped using windows XP, Since V-gear are no longer around there isn’t much I can do.
Does the software that come with the unit work okay, load all right and scan for channels, I have never had them beep before.

Well bugger me, Iv’e lost the bloody tiny install disk that came with the device.Luckily your site has provided me the drivers and BlazeDTV software etc.Only problem is i need the serial number to activate and register the Blaze software.Well i have searched high and low for the disk and packaging, been through the software installed on my old lappy trying to find if they show the serial number (sometimes you find it on the about page etc) well no luck.

My question to you mate, can you tell me if its possible to find the serial number in the registry on my old PC,or how I may go about getting a new serial?Or failing all that can you recommend a free HDTV Tuner/Recorder program that will work with my MobiDTV USB Tuner.

    Hope you can help mate.

I can email you a new key, I have a few here from spare cd’s.

  5. Jason, love your site mate, you would have to be the most switched on dudes for DTV info on the net.

Reason for my email. Couple of years back (2007 i think)I bought a USB Tuner, V-Gear ModiDTV Extreme (VG16019)like the one pictured on your site. Great little device and has worked just fine. I have a new lappy so naturally want to install the USB Tuner and software etc to continue using it on my new PC.

Well bugger me, Iv’e lost the bloody tiny install disk that came with the device. Luckily your site has provided me the drivers and BlazeDTV software etc. Only problem is i need the serial number to activate and register the Blaze software. Well i have searched high and low for the disk and packaging, been through the software installed on my old lappy trying to find if they show the serial number (sometimes you find it on the about page etc) well no luck.

I emailed the folks at Blaze to ask them if I can request a new one or at least how i may be able to track the original number through registration or if there may be able to identify a registry file on my PC that contains the serial. They are as useful as tits on a bull. Suggested I contact the manufacturer at V-Gear, and then gave me a link back to the Blaze website and suggested I buy the current version.

My question to you mate, can you tell me if its possible to find the serial number in the registry on my old PC, or how I may go about getting a new serial? Or failing all that can you recommend a free HDTV Tuner/Recorder program that will work with my MobiDTV USB Tuner.
